E4OD Transmission for sale. The Ford E4OD transmission, produced by Ford Motor Company, was a four-speed automatic transmission used in select Ford trucks, vans, and SUVs from 1989 to 1997. It featured an all-aluminum case and extension housing, hydraulically-controlled planetary gear sets, electronic shift control, and overdrive and lock-up torque converter.
The transmission specifications for the Ford E4OD included gear ratios of 2.45:1 (1st), 1.45:1 (2nd), 1.00:1 (3rd), and 0.69:1 (4th). Also with a 6-bolt hexagon bolt pattern. It had a transmission length of approximately 23.3 inches (593 mm) and weighed between 200 to 300 pounds (91 to 136 kg). The Ford E4OD transmission was rated to handle up to 700 lb-ft (949 Nm) of torque. Hence, making it suitable for heavy-duty applications.
The Ford E4OD transmission was introduced in 1989 and featured electronic controls. This allowed for smooth shifting and improved fuel efficiency. Also, It offered overdrive and lock-up torque converter, which helped enhance drivability and reduce engine wear.
