Introducing our 46RE transmission sale. This A518 class transmission is most commonly known as the 46RE. Since its conception in the late 80’s, this Chrysler built 4-speed automatic has been a reliable workhorse in Dodge vans, pickups, and Jeep Cherokees for over a decade. We have now taken what’s good and made it even better. Our completely rebuilt 46RE utilizes the latest in remanufacturing technology and parts to bring you a transmission that has been redesigned from the ground up. These upgrades will improve the 46RE’s power handling, reliability, and performance.
How Many Variations of the 46RE?
To begin, there are many different variations (so we have over 60 different part numbers!). Hence, each one for a different engine size (bellhousing) and varying electronic and solenoid systems for different years.
Only certain models will interchange with others, which is why we ask for your 17-digit VIN# when you order so we are 100% sure it is the matching unit for your vehicle!
Our advanced line of bushings is mirror-polished and designed to improve pressure and fluid flow control. Also, the custom-machined output shafts have been designed to be compatible with yokes from both early and late-style models. We’ve eliminated drum slippage and a no-reverse condition by adding a larger Low/Reverse brake band strut. The 46RE transmission comes with an upgraded five-pinion planetary assembly and a 4-plate clutch for increased longevity. Finally, the 46RE includes a state-of-the-art lock-up torque converter that has been specifically designed to help combat leeks, vibration, and premature bushing wear. To top it off every transmission comes equipped with a brand new cooler. These are just a few of the upgrades that set our 46RE transmission ahead of the pack.
